It came to me in a dream. No, seriously. I was in New York for a few days, attending the AIGA Awards Gala, and I went to bed with visions of a typeface made from four concentric circles. Each would slowly reveal themselves from the center, then retract. Some would rotate, some would simply extend or retract a line or two. The “serifs” would be little arrows. That’s all. I woke up the next day, and immediately started sketching in Washington Square Park. The ultimate goal is not to typeset this. It has no real baseline. The ultimate goals are to animate the upper- and lower-case letters in their own video.
